Infrastructure

The College has a sprawling 16 acre campus on a beautiful hilltop. Different departments, well furnished class rooms and spacious laboratories with sufficient amenities and equipments are situated in the main building of about 50,000 sq. ft. The Principal’s office and College Office function in a separate building.

The well stacked library of over 18,000 books and the UGC network resource centre help the students to get information from anywhere in the world. The laboratories attached to different departments and the computer centre have all modern facilities. The Zoological Museum of about 800 sq.ft has the unique facility for housing large collection of local biodiversity. A well equipped seminar hall of over 400 sq. ft with modern audiovisual facilities is also available. The College also has a Co-operative Store and a Canteen.

Archeological Museum

The Archaeological Museum of the College was started in 2004 as a heritage centre depicting the culture and history of St. Mary’s Jacobite Syrian Cathedral and the people of Manarcadu. It displays centuries old artefacts and very rare articles which have a bearing on the culture and history of the area. Exhibits include three thousand year old earthen vessels, bells and other articles used in worship, huge stones, bottles, jewellery box, wooden vessels, coins, agricultural implements, silver rods, title deed box all having a history of over thousand years to narrate. The Museum is also visualised as a folklore archives depicting the rich cultural heritage and history of the marginalized sections of the region.

Canteen

The College provides Canteen facility to its staff and students. It caters to the staff and students at subsidised rates.

Centre for English Language Learning and Communication Skills

The College has a well equipped English language lab named Centre for English Language Learning and Communication Skills, helping students to achieve better skills in English language communication. This centre offers decisive, intensive and phonetically correct modules to students under expert guidance of a teacher. Sophisticated, effective and easy implementation of language teaching is introduced here.

Computer Centre

The College has a well-established computer laboratory for the students under the supervision of an instructor. Students of B.Com. and B.A. English (Model II) are mainly utilising this facilities for their subjects, namely Computer Application and Copy Editing, respectively.

Co-operative Society

The College has a Co-operative Society which runs with a well equipped store. All the staff and students of the College are shareholders of the Society.

H B Baselius Paulose II Women's Hostel

The College has a UGC sponsored Women's Hostel which is located in the college campus and provides a serene atmosphere for girl students to stay and study. It is a spacious building and is under the direct control of the college administraion, with a resident matron, the hostel provides accomodation for about 50 students.

  • Manooparambil Thommy Varghese Memorial Ever Rolling Trophy for the department securing the highest points in the competitions in arts, games and academic excellence.
  • Kalayil Kurian Mathew Memorial Ever Rolling Trophy for the house securing the highest points in the inter-house competitions in sports and games

  • Other Scholarships and aids: (1) Education fee concession of harness. (2) Scholarship to physically handicapped. (3) Fee concession to children of political sufferers. (4) Special aid from Coffee Board, Rubber Board and Cardamom Board to the children of their employees

Library and Reading Room

The library has over 18,300 books on the stack. All the teaching and nonteaching staff and students of the College are members of the library. The library and reading room is kept open to members on all working days from 9 AM to 5 PM. Photocopying service is also provided. Rules for the library are provided seperately

Scholarships

  • National Loan Scholarship: Students of Undergraduate courses who have secured at least 50% of marks for Pre-degree/Higher Secondary examination are eligible.
  • University Merit Scholarship: Students who have 60% or more marks for the qualifying examination are offered this scholarship for the duration of a course. The amount is Rs 900/-per year for B. A./ B.Sc./B.Com course and Rs. 1200 for two years for M. A/ M.Sc/M.Com course. This scholarship cannot be availed with any other scholarship. No application is required. The parents have to execute with the University a bond agreeing to refund the scholarship received in case the scholar has discontinued before completing the course.
  • Kerala State Scholarship: Available to students during their first year of study in various courses, provided they have secured 50% marks or above in their qualifying examinations and the annual income of their parents does not exceed Rs. 3000/-. The scholarships are awarded on merit cum means subject to the number allotted each year. Application forms can be had from the Director of Collegiate Education, Trivandrum. The amount of the scholarship is Rs. 500/- per year for three years for B.A/B.Sc./B.Com courses. The Scholarship can be availed with any other scholarship. The scholar has to maintain 50% marks every year otherwise he/she will lose the Scholarship.
  • Unified Fee Concession: It is awarded on the basis of merit and means. The minimum 45% marks is required to apply for this concession. The concession is one half or the full amount of the tuition fee. Application forms can be had from the College Office. Renewal applications are to be sent every year of the course.
  • Educational Concessions to Students belonging to Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe and Backward Classes: Soon after the re-opening of the College, students belonging to scheduled caste, scheduled tribe and other backward classes newly admitted as well as those continuing their studies in the 2nd year of the course have to apply for educational concessions including lumpsum grant, monthly stipend, tuition fees and examination fees in the prescribed form available from the College office. Students belonging to other backward classes will get concession only if the annual income of their parents is below Rs. 25000/- for UG Course and Rs. 40000/- for PG Course. They have to attach an income certificate from the Tahsildar along with their applications. Those who fail to apply for the concessions in time may lose their chance of getting concessions in which case they have to pay all the fees due to the College.
  • Post Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholorship for Single Girl Child: Any single girl child being the only child of her parents is eligible under the scheme. She should have taken admission in first semester Master's degree programme
  • Post-Metric Scholarship for students belonging to Minority Communities: The scheme is to award scholorships to meritorious students belonging to economically weaker section of minority community. Scholorship will be awarded to the students who have secured not less than 50% marks and equivalent grade in the previous final examinations and the annual income of whose parents/guardian from all sources does not exceed Rs. 2 lakh. 30% of scholorship will be earmarked for girl students.
